It is that time of the year again where a new season of one of the most followed shows in Africa is about to begin. And if you are a fan, then you must be excited and ready for all the drama that only BBN comes with.
Every year, millions of people keenly follow the reality show with passion, sharing their sentiments about favourites as well as those they do not care for. Having transcended its boundaries, it is of no surprise that the show has such a huge following in Ghana.
Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria and popularly referred to as BBNaija, is a Nigerian reality competition television series, based on the Big Brother television franchise. Contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material prizes. The goal is to avoid being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favourite housemates to remain in the show.
Last year’s season, which was the sixth, housed 26 contestants for 72 days. Whitemoney, real name Hazel Oyeze Onou, won with the highest percentage of votes.
The show this year will begin with a double launch on 23rd and 24th July, 2022, which is in just two days. This will be the second time that the show opens with a double premiere. Last year’s dubbed ‘Shine Ya Eye’ was the first. Although the number of contestants have not been stated yet, Multichoice, the organizer of the show, has announced that the show will run for 72 days. The presenter remains Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
The winner of this year’s edition walks away with N50 million cash prize and another N50 million worth of prizes from the sponsors.
We all are looking forward to a great season, and may the best contestant win!
