Paul Kwah, the driver of an articulated truck that was engaged in a tragic car collision on Wednesday, August 3 near Eduagyei Village on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway, has been detained by police.
Health officials at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital have verified that the incident claimed the lives of 12 people, including the minibus driver.

According to a preliminary inquiry, Paul Kwah, the suspected driver, was traveling from Takoradi to Accra in a Dad Flat Body Articulated Truck with the registration number GM 2670-12 while hauling 850 bags of cement. When he arrived at Eduagyei village, he negligently passed some vehicles and struck an approaching Toyota Hiace mini bus with the license plate WR 1347-17 head-on, according to the police statement.
At the Cape Coast Hospital, a female passenger who survived the collision is doing well.
“To help with victim identification, the police are collaborating with the families of the deceased.
The statement read, “While we commiserate with the families impacted, we continue to implore all road users to be orderly, responsible, and show a sense of compassion, as well as adhere to road regulations in order to avoid such preventable accidents.
