Kizz Daniel, a singer, has expressed regret for canceling a Sunday performance in Tanzania.
However, Daniel, who was detained over the incident on Monday in Dar es Salaam, gave his account of what happened.
While the show’s organiser, Stephen Uwa, claimed to have paid US $60,000 to the musician, police had already detained him for the incident despite his pleas for more than five hours.
He merely stated that his bag wasn’t brought by the airline. He had a gold chain around his neck, which is why he was unable to perform because it was missing. He said, “He wanted everything.
Uwa had claimed, “I purchased him new clothes, but he said he couldn’t perform without the gold on his neck only because the airline didn’t bring one of his bags.”
However, the Buga singer said he and the organizers had chosen to make it up to the Tanzanian fans who had showed him so much affection during a news conference on Tuesday.
“The crowd was already in a frenzy; the fans were in a frenzy, which I know was motivated by love. In order to respect the fans, I was instructed to wait. You must not go; it is not secure. So I gave my OK. We agreed to perform a makeup show for free after I sat down with the team, the organizers, and the promoters to brainstorm ways to make it up to the Tanzanian fans. Even this time, I consented to work with them in partnership.
“I’ll be working with Straight Up Vibes to put up a free event this Friday. I’m sorry to the supporters. Nothing was done on purpose, he claimed.
