A 45-bed maternity and children’s ward in the Bole District Hospital has been opened and presented to the Bole Community in the Savanna Region by former president of Ghana John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina.
In a festive ceremony on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the couple, who are commemorating their 30th wedding anniversary, built and handed the twin wards to the residents of Bole and the nearby settlements.
The Lordina Foundation, my wife, her organization, their partners, and our friends who supported us made sure that this LORDINA FOUNDATION MATERNITY AND CHILDREN’S WARD was ready and on time for the handing over to the Bole Community and the hospital. “I am a very proud man and husband this afternoon,” Mr. Mahama said.
The Bole Wura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I, the Bole District Chief Executive, the Savanna Regional Director for Health, the Bole District Director of Health, the administration and personnel of the Bole District Hospital, and the Bole Midwifery Training School all attended the inauguration ceremony.
The former president said, “It is most right that on this momentous Pearl Jubilee occasion, we return home, and give something back to this great town that nourished me in my early childhood years,” before a crowd of ecstatic attendees who had defied an earlier downpour to attend the ceremony.
The 45 beds, 10 infant cots, 5 weighing scales with height measures, Kangaroo Mother and Child Care Center, birth room with two delivery beds, and recovery ward are all features of the 865 square meter Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward.
President Mahama stated that “a Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 3 incubators, 5 phototherapy units, and a baby weighing scale” are also a part of the newly inaugurated wards. Additionally, we offer a theater room with two theater beds, a theater light, and a stool. Additionally, we’ve got spaces for sterilizing, exams, doctor’s offices, nurse workstations, and a linen room.
“Today is one of the best days of my life,” said Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, former first lady and president of the Lordina Foundation, in her remarks.
We celebrate life, health, and wellbeing, as well as our people and their dreams, and we rejoice the outcome of this lovely vision, she continued.
With the new maternity and children’s wards, Mrs. Mahama is confident that Bole and its surrounding communities will receive the best possible medical treatment. She says that “this is our heartfelt commitment to the lovely people of this community.”
She also spoke highly of her husband. I want to express my gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, my beloved husband, for his support of the building of this facility.
