Reports reaching us have it that a young man has been electrocuted to death at Ridge, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, the deceased attempted to steal some electrical lines that provide power to the neighborhood before he tragically passed away.
It is said that two young guys went to station “A” of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Ridge on Friday morning, August 5, 2022, with the intention of stealing busbar isolators, but the first one was electrocuted and the other managed to flee.
The thief suffered several burns as a result of the electrocution, and the surge of electricity through his body rendered him lifeless when he was taken to the hospital.
The Ashanti Regional Director of ECG, Ing. David Boadi Asamoah, said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect tampered with the cable to cut it, and unfortunately for the young man, he got electrocuted and died instantly.
He urged Ghanaians involved in such acts to desist from the practice adding that “anybody caught will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
