A South African man has arrived in Mecca on foot after walking for three years across African and European countries to reach Islam’s holiest place.
He started his journey on August 30 and went through Palestine, Sudan, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, and the COVID-19 border lockdown, which prompted him to pause his quest.
The man claimed that after spending more than a year in Palestine, he resumed his journey after the border was reopened by passing through Jordan and Medina on his way to Mecca.
Saheed, a resident of Cape Town, added that he was in Mecca for the Hajj and would trek back to South Africa once it was over.
A footage which has gone viral on social media shows him narrating to an interviewer how he embarked on the journey.
