Rapper, MI set to change stage name as he announces new album

Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, professionally known as MI, has revealed plans to retire his current stage name as he prepares to release a new album.

The award-winning rapper made this known via a post on his Instagram page on Thursday.

Although he did not disclose the new name, he did state that he planned to give up his 15-year-old stage name because his forthcoming album deserves to be released under a new identity.

He also revealed that he would be performing for the last time as MI Abaga on July 10.

“After over 15 years as Mister Incredible, I will be retiring the name ‘MI Abaga’ and taking on a new name for a new project because my new project is hard AF and deserves a new name. My final act as MI will be a performance at The Vibe on the 10th of July, where I will celebrate my legacy as Africa’s Greatest Rapper. See you all on stage,” he posted.

The album, dubbed “The Guy,” is slated for release in August.

The announcement comes shortly after the release of his collaborative album project with A-Q, Blaqbones titled, The Lamb is Back.
