Justin Frimpong Kodua, the general secretary of the country’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the media to support national development.
He stated that the NPP, as the party in power, will rely on the media to get public feedback on the government’s programs and policies in order to enhance performance when necessary.
Confab
Speaking to the media on Friday in Kumasi (August 12, 2022), Mr. Kodua stressed the importance of the media’s role in national development.
I don’t joke about or minimize the role of the media, he said, because in addition to the work you do to disseminate information, you are in the ideal position to gather citizen feedback for the government, which it can then utilize to make decisions that will benefit the populace.
New partnership
The General Secretary begged the media to be forgiving of the NPP and anyone else who may have mistreated them while performing their duties.
According to him, the new administration was forging a new course and would work closely with and engage the media on matters of shared interest.
We plan to forge a new route with the media so that we can work together to serve the people of our party and Ghana properly, he added. “Many of my executives and I are new in the positions God kindly provided us via the delegates of our party during the national elections,” he said.
Support
In agreement with the General Secretary, the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, emphasized the need of fostering positive media relations.
He claimed that because the media was so important in influencing the public’s thoughts and opinions, it would be good for the party.
Dennis Kwakwa, the party’s Ashanti Regional Director of Communications, requested the media to do its best to double-check information with the party and interact with it more so that they could all work together to forge an effective fusion.
