A local of Nkonya Ntsumuru in the Oti Region was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen. The attackers’ motivations remain unknown, but according to the police, the deceased, identified as Daniel Brempong, was en route to the farm when he was killed.
According to reports, the attackers set up an ambush and shot him dead immediately.
In a press release on August 1, police stated, “The body has subsequently been deposited at the Kpando Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital for preservation and autopsy.”
In order to “guarantee peace and order,” the law enforcement agency declared that patrols had been stepped up in Nkonya and the area.
Some have already made the connection between the event and the reportedly settled Nkonya-Alavanyo community issues.
The public is being urged to be calm by police “while investigation continues to get the criminals arrested to face justice,” according to police.
