Owo church attackers arrested by Nigerian authorities

The tragic attack on the Owo Catholic Church was carried out, and the arrest of those responsible has been confirmed by Nigeria’s military high command.

According to General Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), combined efforts amongst all the security agencies allowed for the arrest.

The suspects who are ISWAP members are being held in jail, according to the CDS, who revealed the names of individuals who were arrested.

On June 5, while attendees fled for safety, the gunmen entered the church, opened fire on the crowd, and also exploded bombs, killing forty people.

Earlier, Amotekun Corps agents in Ondo State asserted that they had also detained a number of people suspected of being involved in the killings.

Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of Amotekun, assured journalists in Akure on June 23 that all of the perpetrators of the attack on the place of worship would be caught.

Adeleye, however, omitted to mention the precise number of alleged terrorists who were detained.

As for the Owo incident, he stated, “We have made some arrests, retrieved some crucial items, and seized the last car they utilized for that operation.

A large number of individuals and pieces of equipment have been detained in connection with the Owo incident. We chased them on that particular day to the extent that we were able to recover the vehicle, and we are still pursuing them. We have assured you that the offenders and their sponsors will be held accountable until the issue is resolved.
